Columbia economist daveholtz takes leave to lead AGI economics research at OpenAI

OpenAI chief economist Ronnie Chatterji announced that daveholtz is joining the OpenAI Economic Research team. Holtz will be on leave from Columbia for the 2026–2027 academic year, leading AGI economics research on how economics can help understand and shape increasingly capable AI and its economic impact.
