Nvidia, Palantir and Booz Allen restrict Claude over Anthropic's 30-day retention policy

Per The Information, Nvidia, Palantir and Booz Allen are restricting Claude use over Anthropic's 30-day logging retention policy.

Anthropic retains logs for 30 days because some misuse patterns only emerge across multiple requests. But for sensitive enterprises, centralized provider-side log retention is a major data-governance concern that can block deployment — Palantir reportedly won't expose Claude until zero-data-retention guarantees become irrevocable.

The takeaway: once a model sits inside software handling defense, supply-chain or cybersecurity data, the mere possibility that a provider could change retention terms later becomes operational risk — contract terms can outrank benchmark leadership. By comparison, OpenAI's enterprise posture is more permissive: standard API inputs/outputs are kept in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, then deleted unless legally required.
