OpenTag is an open-source Slack AI coworker running on your existing Claude Code or Codex subscription
Ok_Championship8304 · reddit · 2026-09-15
OpenTag is a 100% open-source Slack-resident AI coworker, pitched as an alternative to claude tag. Key points:
- BYO subscription, not BYO key: supports Claude Code, Codex, and Pi—uses existing logins on your machine, no new API bill, teammates need no accounts.
- Background delegation: tasks run with channel context and reply in-thread.
- Role-based workers: designer (Figma), sales (CRM/calendar), engineer (GitHub/Linear/Sentry); workers can spawn other workers.
- Git-backed memory: worker memories live as markdown in a git repo you own.
- Fully self-hostable including the Slack bridge; currently pre-alpha.
