Palisade's Jeffrey Ladish on BBC: why the AI slowdown call needs audits and national oversight
JeffLadish · x · 2026-09-15
Jeffrey Ladish, Executive Director at Palisade Research and former Anthropic security engineer, spoke to BBC about AI CEOs' statements on slowing AI development.
He called the shift unprecedented and much needed, and broke down three things Dario highlighted:
- Embedded auditors: AI companies must not check their own homework—independent entities are needed to ensure humans stay in control as capabilities grow.
- National oversight: government supervision as a backstop, ensuring that even a responsibly-run company cannot build something that evades control or causes catastrophe.
'The world is beginning to wake up,' he said.
