Buckingham Palace is preparing to host senior figures from Nvidia, Google DeepMind, OpenAI and Anthropic alongside the UK's AI minister for talks on how powerful AI should be developed and controlled, possibly including shared guiding principles framed around societal benefit and human dignity.
The summit lands amid intensifying AI safety concerns, with frontier labs competing for compute and investment while facing uncomfortable supervision questions. Safety researcher David Krueger responded: why not have independent experts in the room? He suggests Yoshua Bengio, Geoffrey Hinton, and Stuart Russell as options.
