Team kills AI security startup, open-sources local red-team engine OpenHunterAI

A team that was building an AI security startup killed the idea and instead open-sourced its red-team engine, OpenHunterAI, on GitHub.

The local-first tool targets web, API, and LLM application security with attacker-style reasoning and evidence-backed findings, consolidating scope, scan activity, findings, and remediation into a single local workspace. It ships with a skill for AI coding agents and deploys locally via Docker Compose. The project is brand new with minimal traction so far.
