Andrew Curran argues the AI safety camp's push to hand AI control to governments overlooks that much of the population has never felt served by any government, left or right, so they won't trust one with the most powerful technology ever. Ramez (Ramez Naam) amplified the point: any AI power granted to government must be assumed to be used by an administration you distrust — and he's surprised how willing the largely liberal AI community is to hand power to the current one.
