Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch announced that Steren, creator of Google Cloud Run, is joining Vercel on his first day to lead the Fluid family of compute products: Functions, Containers, Sandbox, and Builds. Rauch frames the hire as a bet that agents are the next frontier of cloud computing, requiring new compute primitives designed specifically for them—just as Steren helped define the serverless paradigm at Google.
