- A new "Transformative AI Strategy for Europe" report, backed by researchers and government engagement, proposes near-term goals including a Member State Alliance for supply chain security, preparing EU institutions for a transformative AI world, and securing Europe's share of global AI compute.
- Reposting it, Dorialexander argues the effort is well documented but can't fix internal contradictions: frontier (or even economically workable) AI is not an "asset" but a continuous practice, so any access will face constant renegotiation. Chinese labs are also evolving their licensing conditions — hence why GLM 5.3 isn't on Mistral.
- He adds that between a state-mandated Anthropic-style moonshot and doing nothing there is a wide range of options still affordable for one of the world's three largest markets: leading Chinese labs ran on just a few billion dollars of investment, and quality AI training eventually pays for itself.
