Dario Amodei: I'd rather be mocked daily than see Claude used to kill people
mjdramstead · x · 2026-09-14
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei responded to criticism that Claude's safeguards are too strict, saying he gets mocked on social media almost every day over the model's overly strong biology safeguards, with biology students joking they can't even use the model. His stance: "I would rather they make fun of me than to wake up one day and discover that someone used our model, Claude, to kill a bunch of people." He also argued that responsibility for AI safety shouldn't fall on Anthropic or any single AI company alone. A quoted tweet jokingly compares 'sandboxing' to the memory of being stuffed in a locker.
