Claude Desktop's new Cowork projects only accept one folder, breaking multi-folder workflows
WaterlooScotsman · reddit · 2026-09-14
- A user found that new Cowork projects in Claude Desktop (Mac) can only be bound to a single folder; the Context "+" only accepts documents, GitHub, Drive, and Notion, with no way to add extra folders.
- Projects created before early September still keep multiple folders and work fine, indicating this is new behavior from the ongoing Chat/Cowork merge.
- This hurts workflows that reference several folders outside the main project folder: the only options are one big parent folder (exposing everything) or copying files around.
- The issue is tracked in anthropics/claude-code (#92710 and #76694 from July); Anthropic has not responded, and the help docs still describe the old multi-folder behavior.
