Open-source mock server for testing MCP elicitation in your clients
squiddlane · reddit · 2026-09-14
A developer released an open-source MCP mock server (elicitationtestermcp) for testing client-side support of Elicitation, where a server pauses execution to request user input or credentials. Use cases: validating Form Mode by simulating server-requested JSON schemas and checking dynamically generated forms; testing edge-case handling of all three spec responses (accept/decline/cancel); and UI/UX testing of modal dialogs, inline forms, or CLI prompts. Aimed at MCP client, agent runtime, and IDE extension builders; feedback, PRs, and test cases welcome. Repo: github.com/mappedsky/elicitationtestermcp
