Beyond UBI: when AI abundance breaks the link between labor and purchasing power
r0ck3t23 · x · 2026-09-14
The author argues UBI patches income loss from AI automation but not the deeper shift: if machines produce faster than purchasing power grows, deflationary pressure emerges. Money allocates scarcity — once intelligence, labor, and production become abundant, value shifts to land, energy, compute, attention, and access. UBI preserves spending without fixing the structure; society may need a fundamentally new way to allocate abundance.
