Csaba Szepesvari (DeepMind) discusses the Navier-Stokes equations: the physically useful version does not use forcing. The question is whether NS can capture reality — we know it gives rise to turbulence, but if it also gives rise to blow-up, the model is known to be bad in some regimes.
