Analyst: Near-zero chance OpenAI or Anthropic meaningfully slow frontier AI

inductionheads · x · 2026-09-14

In a widely shared thread, aleabitoreddit assigns essentially 0% probability that Anthropic or OpenAI will voluntarily slow frontier development, arguing their pushed 'regulation' is largely regulatory capture: every lab supports rules that constrain rivals (xAI, Gemini, Meta) more than itself. Given US–China competition, the US is also unlikely to hold back frontier AI, as letting China leapfrog would be a flagrant national security risk.
