2010 SIGGRAPH paper resurfaces: eigenflows as stable Navier-Stokes solutions for real-time art
wgilpin0 · x · 2026-09-14
Riding the Navier-Stokes buzz, @deafbeef reshared his 2010 SIGGRAPH paper on "eigenflows" — stable solutions to Navier-Stokes on a given domain. These velocity fields persist (or decay exponentially with viscosity) without veering into turbulence unless perturbed, offering interesting properties vs grid-based methods. He used them to build real-time animations.
