Mollick: GPT-6 Astra and Fable 5.1 can reliably do weeks of human work

Ethan Mollick argues GPT-6 Astra and Fable 5.1 are already enough for transformative impact across large parts of the economy — they can reliably do weeks' worth of human work when properly guided and harnessed.

While the effects will arrive unevenly, he says change is inevitable regardless of frontier pacing. But the type of change isn't predetermined: he calls for developing and sharing models of AI-human work that enhance rather than only replace human labor — a job for labs, companies experimenting with adoption, and policymakers who can incentivize such implementation. This work matters regardless of existential risk, he writes, and needs far more focus.
