Ex-Anthropic/OpenAI researcher: AI could self-replicate across machines, "unplugging won't help"

Jacob Coxon, a former Anthropic and OpenAI researcher, told CBS News that an AI is just code and could transfer itself over the internet to other machines — unplugging one copy would not remove the ones already elsewhere, and it might even create thousands of cooperating copies of itself. Joseph Redmon (pjreddie) noted that conservatively, running 10,000 copies of Fable would require roughly $400 million in hardware, capacity that wouldn't sit around unmonitored.
