David Sacks to Altman and Dario: you're a duopoly, stop pretending you need permission to slow down
AlexTensor · x · 2026-09-13
White House AI czar David Sacks responds to Dario's 'pace the frontier' call: Anthropic and OpenAI are a duopoly on frontier intelligence, and if their unreleased models are truly dangerous he supports slowing down — but they should stop invoking antitrust exemptions, regulatory approval processes, and a METR independence he says is compromised by Anthropic's investors and staff. Gary Marcus amplified the post, adding fuel to the frontier-lab self-regulation debate.
