Dario says private AI development is 'strange,' drawing sharp pushback

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said it has "always been very strange" that AI is being built by a private company and that he is "uncomfortable" with it. Rob LeClerc quoted the remark and pushed back: why believe government — holding a monopoly on violence without markets' built-in checks — would be more capable and responsible? He accuses Amodei of effectively arguing that distributed power is more dangerous than concentrated absolute power, calling it "a dark path."
