Sam Altman: Building a system beyond human control is possible, but we shouldn't do it

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he 'absolutely' believes it's possible to build a system that would not be under human control, 'but I don't think that's something we should do.' He pledged OpenAI will always act — even pausing training for a while — to make more progress on alignment.
