Sam Altman: an uncontrollable AI system is possible, but we shouldn't build one

Sam Altman was quoted saying: "do I believe it's possible to build a system that would not be under human control? absolutely. i don't think that's something we should do." He pledged OpenAI will always act, even pausing training for a while, to make more progress on alignment.
