Dartmouth professor Paul Novosad observed students' chat logs: some use 5 prompts to refine a 2-line email for every message—arguably more work than writing it themselves, but they're mentally incapable of doing otherwise. He isn't stressed about MIT/Dartmouth students with strong internal motivation; he worries about the majority of U.S. students who resist learning, now that AI supercharges that resistance.
