Why a Standardized GPU-Hour Market Would Fail: No Real Compute Users
AccBalanced · x · 2026-09-13
jessiedong argues that the clearest path for a compute market — fixing a GPU-hour benchmark price and settling all contracts against it — would disappoint: DRW, Jump and hedge funds would trade the number against each other, but real compute users like neoclouds and AI companies would have no reason to keep coming back.
She points to credit markets as an alternative design: even debt from the same company is priced differently, yet markets decide what's "similar enough" to trade under one contract. Compute could follow that path via revised contracts rather than forced standardization.
