OpenAI Researcher Warns AI-Driven Military Power Will Concentrate in Frontier Labs

A frontier lab researcher argues that as every facet of military strength—R&D for drones and sensors, strategic reasoning, robot-run supply chains, intelligence analysis—gets automated by AI, governments, having hollowed out their own technical capacity, will be forced to depend on a handful of frontier labs. That gives labs immense leverage over policy through model design and usage choices, a concentration of power he believes exceeds any historical precedent, even if the timeline spans a decade or more.
