Quoting the claim that we've barely scratched the surface of today's models, Jack Friedson argues the primary limiter of value creation is no longer the models but human organizational systems. Model capabilities are spiky — the latest frontier model (astra) is clearly superhuman at narrow tasks yet overall worse at software engineering. Such intelligence can't be dropped into existing processes; realizing even a fraction of the potential requires rebuilding many systems from the ground up, making the application layer one of the highest-leverage places to work.
