Teknium debugs a broken trading agent: 60s approval timeout, not one bug, killed the flow
Teknium · x · 2026-09-13
Teknium (Nous Research) shared a detailed post-mortem of jbrukh's failing trading agent: the approval gate was timing out after 60s instead of the post-#68597 default of 300s — likely a stale approvals.timeout: 60 materialized in config.yaml by an old saveconfig — while the agent burned hours delegating around the block. A broken Honcho memory backend also meant the agent couldn't remember what it bought. Log coverage was partial: agent.log only covered Sep 12 16:00–23:03; the Sep 10–11 fights were visible only at turn level in gateway.log. Stack: Telegram DM, v0.21.2, openai-codex gpt-5.6-sol, maxturns 45, Linux VPS.
