Damodaran: Hyperscalers Will Tighten AI Capex Purse Strings in 2027
pdamodaran · x · 2026-09-13
NYU professor Aswath Damodaran predicts 2027 is when hyperscalers will start tightening the purse and let announced AI spending digest — "mark it".
In a follow-up he clarified: compute demand is real; the issue is that announced capex isn't being spent efficiently due to slow build-outs and lack of efficiency across the entire AI stack. Letting announced capital digest first is in vendors' best interest.
