Git AI team joins OpenAI's Codex; open-source AI-code attribution tool to stay open
njyx · x · 2026-09-13
Git AI, an open-source AI-code attribution tool, is joining OpenAI's Codex team along with founders Aidan Cunniffe and Sasha. The tool runs on hundreds of thousands of developer machines across scale-ups and the F500, helping engineering leaders measure coding-agent ROI and compare model performance and token efficiency. The team previously collaborated with Cursor, Cognition, Google, Factory, OpenAI, and GitHub on agent hooks, telemetry schemas, and attribution standards. OpenAI says Git AI stays open source while enterprises get data to quantify Codex's impact.
