Physicist David Deutsch notes ChatGPT helped him fix his dishwasher he was about to replace — increasing real wealth while lowering measured GDP. He argues the main economic indicator is structurally incapable of registering what actually makes people better off: the growth of knowledge. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas agreed, saying economists' theories are outdated for measuring AI's uncounted time and money savings.
