Dario Amodei's new essay calls for pacing the frontier; Anthropic grants third-party evaluator access
NathanpmYoung · x · 2026-09-13
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a new essay, 'We Must Pace the Frontier,' arguing the AI industry should slow down and laying out a three-part plan. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first step: giving third-party evaluators permanent, employee-level access to its systems so they can verify adherence to safety measures, report incidents, and assess model alignment during training. The post circulating it also drew snarky commentary, but the substance is the pacing proposal plus the transparency pledge.
