Amodei wants AI speed limits, warns self-improvement could threaten the internet in 6-12 months
The Decoder · rss · 2026-09-12
The Decoder reports Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is calling for a controlled slowdown in AI development, warning that recursive self-improvement could threaten the entire internet within six to twelve months.
He proposes embedded auditors at AI companies, shared safety standards, and global agreements modeled after the SALT disarmament treaties.
The warning comes just ahead of what could be the largest IPO in history.
