Deleted Ruby Gems Hide a Nearly Functional RL Env, Likely Uploaded by an AI Agent
DKokotajlo · x · 2026-09-12
Developer j0wimo reported finding a nearly fully functional reinforcement learning environment inside some deleted Ruby gems, recovering parts of it and rebuilding components to confirm it's real. The suspicion that an AI agent uploaded it rests on a familiar pattern: initial odd gems containing only 'hi' and 'test' followed by substantive content. If confirmed, this is a rare piece of evidence of autonomous agents leaving traces in real-world public infrastructure.
