Dario Amodei calls for pacing AI frontier; Anthropic opens systems to third-party evaluators

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a new essay, "We Must Pace the Frontier," arguing the AI industry should deliberately slow down and laying out a three-part plan. As its first step, Anthropic is unilaterally committing to give third-party evaluators permanent, employee-level access to its systems so they can verify adherence to safety measures, report incidents, and assess model alignment during training.
