Codex adds manual confirmation pauses, sparking criticism over long-task usability

doodlestein · x · 2026-09-12

Developer @doodlestein reports new Codex behavior: sessions pause mid-run, requiring a manual button press to continue. He sees it as request-volume management with plausible deniability, and argues it ruins long-range tasks since the agent could stop at any time.

He cautions the vendor to stop "this nonsense" before users switch to omp, and shares his workaround: using his own ntm tool to have another agent manage these sessions instead of babysitting them.
