@0xdoug suggests that by turning a fruit fly connectome into a neural network, we get a rough mapping from synapse count to equivalent parameter count in LLMs — putting Fable at roughly the size of a dog brain. Tony Fadell (alvelda) adds that the comparison isn't one-to-one, since the fly connectome includes cognitive machinery LLMs lack, so correction factors are needed, though the order of magnitude should be close. He notes this framing matches some of the LLM's autistic-seeming limitations, and is a nod to how capable dogs are as computing engines.
