Following up on his dilemma argument, wfithian notes that thinking it's a coin flip between AI disempowering us within 30 years and humanity retaining meaningful control already puts you solidly in the doomer camp by usual standards. He adds that most people on either side of any issue won't make careful arguments, and gatekeeping discourse by calling them unserious seems unhealthy.
