Princeton's PACMAN AI controls fusion plasma in real time within 20 milliseconds

Researchers at Princeton and the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) have successfully tested PACMAN, an AI framework that controls fusion plasma in real time.
The system makes decisions in about 20 milliseconds and can predict instabilities, intervening to prevent them before they occur — a notable AI-for-science advance in fusion control.
