A user found that after an authorized external tool edited a Claude Code persistent memory file on disk, Claude called the change an 'injection into the memory file' and referred to the file as 'my notes,' distinguishing edits made 'through me' from direct ones. The question: intentional provenance/safety behavior, or the model wrongly reasoning it has authority over the files?
