Solo dev generates editable vector logos with AI in hours, skipping $500 freelance bills

A solo developer (betterstickies.com) shares his end-to-end workflow for AI-generated logos. Not a designer, he used to outsource icons and vectors.
His process:
- Generate the first draft with ChatGPT's image model, then iterate with Google's NanoBanana;
- Since the results were PNG-only, he tested Astra: concepts in ChatGPT, then Astra low via pi (he found codex wastes more tokens for the same output) to produce a vector file — fully editable in Inkscape;
- The spiral-notes logo was hard enough that freelancers said it would need significant work, yet Astra handled it in 2 hours of iteration.
He also made a professional logo for his real business, saving not the $200–500 fee but the time — iterating in the background instead of vetting designers and waiting days. His take: brand designers won't vanish, but cheap-gig freelancers will suffer as non-designers and business owners turn to Astra-class models.
