Videolan is demoing the current VLC build running on a 1998 iMac G3 and a Pentium III with Windows XP at its IBC booth.
The team frames long-term software compatibility as an environmental feature: keeping software optimized for old hardware keeps machines out of the e-waste pile. VLC has always favored old formats and technologies others declared dead.
