Over 70 cross-party UK MPs and peers are calling on the Prime Minister to lead an international agreement prohibiting superintelligent AI development while preserving strategic AI ambitions, urging adoption of the Artificial Superintelligence Security Bill. Gary Marcus argues the target should be poorly aligned AI (almost certainly dangerous) rather than superintelligence (conceivably beneficial)—and that the industry's complete failure at self-governance is what led here, since no one knows how to build aligned AI.
