NVIDIA engineer marks 9 years: he joined despite below-market pay, betting on the mission
yacineMTB · x · 2026-09-11
An NVIDIA engineer posted a 9-year anniversary reflection, recalling that a colleague advised against joining because the compensation was below market rate — but he went anyway, trusting the mission and the people.
He first met simt, Michael Garland, and Jared Hoberock on the C++ standards committee, where he considered them the smartest people present. Before NVIDIA, he worked at Berkeley Lab on concurrent and parallel programming paradigms, mostly SIMD-related.
