Seller stops having AI write listings, has it read 200 buyer messages instead — returns dropped

An electronics-accessories seller in Thailand and Malaysia shares a counterintuitive AI workflow: stop asking AI to write listings, make it read buyer messages instead.
The trigger: "water resistant" in English was translated as "waterproof" in Thai; customers took the product to the beach and learned what IP54 means — one word cost two months of restocking fees. Meanwhile AI-generated copy was identical every time and read even worse in Thai.
The flow: listings go up rough for two weeks, buyers ask dozens of questions, AI clusters them by actual intent ("survive rain," "take swimming," "ok in shower" all collapse into one "water handling" bucket), and the listing is rewritten around those buckets — the first three lines answer real questions in plain language, marketing moves to the bottom or disappears. The AI does clustering and drafting; the seller decides which buckets matter.
Result: repeated questions dropped, and remaining askers are mostly about to buy, not return. He doesn't know if it scales beyond his 50 SKUs, but question volume and returns both fell.
