BlackHC clarified his position in the debate with NielsRogge: with current models and the current world, existential risks are quite unlikely — but continuing unchanged could make risks much higher within years or a decade.

He argued that counting on regulations and better alignment "is not necessarily a given," and risks can materialize much faster than people assume — shifting the debate from present capabilities to trajectory and governance assumptions.
