Math academia's anti-AI posturing is unsustainable and will all be reversed, scholar argues

Scholar Rex Douglass criticizes the math community's contradictory stance on AI: to distance itself from industry, math now claims it doesn't care about the problems it once called most important, doesn't teach students the state of the art, and frames industry careers as immoral. He argues all of these positions are unsustainable and will inevitably be reversed — the real puzzle is why intellectuals embarrass themselves so completely knowing they'll walk it all back within a few years.
