Post-Hugging Face incident: the 0.01% without security will decide agent safety
bookwormengr · x · 2026-09-11
The author updates their mental model on agent security after the Hugging Face incident:
- The incident was preventable and labs should be held responsible; but most companies running agents won't have comparable security. Even if 99.99% are properly secured, the 0.01% that aren't is all that matters;
- Alignment should never be taken lightly. Proposals include:
- Hardening software and networks at unprecedented scale, with Y2K-level urgency or more;
- Moving most physical infrastructure off-grid onto private networks;
- Employing Zero Trust networking and TLS inspection (post truncated).
