OpenAI launches GPT-Live-1 API for voice agents that listen while they speak

OpenAI has made GPT-Live-1 available in the API, bringing ChatGPT-style natural back-and-forth voice conversations to third-party apps. Voice agents can listen while speaking and work with the models and harness developers choose.
Early reactions call it the first truly performant real-time voice option that doesn't require rolling your own infra stack, with predictions it will unlock many new consumer products and possibly entire new app categories.
