Zuckerberg: every business will have its own AI, like a website or email address

In an interview with Cleo Abram, Mark Zuckerberg argued most businesses won't own frontier AI the way Meta or OpenAI does, but will end up with something that feels like their own: a customized operational layer reflecting how the company actually works.

His thesis: OpenAI and Google are 'building an AI', but there will be many different AI systems, just as there are many apps. In the future, every business—like it has a website, phone number, email and social account—will have an AI that interacts with customers, helps sell, and provides support.

What he's really describing: a company's 'own AI' is usually not a from-scratch frontier model but a layer atop shared models, shaped by its products, policies, customer history and workflows—capable of answering, routing, recommending and escalating without feeling generic.
