Anthropic Accuses Moonshot of Routing 300K User Queries to Claude via 5,380 Fake Accounts

Anthropic has published a report accusing China's Moonshot AI of covertly routing user requests to its Claude models and passing the responses off as Kimi output. Because Anthropic blocks access from China, Moonshot allegedly used 5,380 fraudulent accounts — nearly 300,000 customer requests were spotted going primarily to Claude Opus.
The report also explains why users asking Kimi what model it was often got "Claude" as the answer. Anthropic frames it as Moonshot's bid to gain an edge in the AI race.
